Stop boinc manager win 712/25/2023 Users can decide which projects they participate in, using the free and open-source BOINC client software. I also notice that the projects seem to lose some of the percentage they have completed when I log out and log back in, which again to me implies that they are not being run as a service - presumably they do not save the full state to which I have got them and when restarted revert to the last 'save point'.A subreddit dedicated to all things BOINC, a platform enabling the public to volunteer their computer's processing capability towards research projects distributed across the globe. If I log out and log back in, it seems to be restarting the various project work units, which seems to also support the idea that it is not running as a service. I notice that it says it is running under my account - which I don't think it should be doing. 15:08:34 Processor: 2 AuthenticAMD AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 5000+ 15:08:34 Data directory: E:\Settings\BOINC 15:08:34 log flags: task, file_xfer, sched_ops 15:08:34 Starting BOINC client version 6.6.36 for windows_intelx86 This time it suggested my new data location and Protected Apllication Execution was checked. To make sure, I uninstalled BOINC and re-installed it. That seemed to work in that the tasks seem to be registered etc. I exited BOINC and copied the files from the old location manually. It did not and in fact prompted me to attach to a project. I expected the installer to copy the existing files across to the new location. I also changed the location of the files (when installing). I am using 6.6.36 on Win XP SP3 and checked "Run in Protected Application Execution" mode when I installed over 6.6.28 (which was also intalled to run in PAE mode). here's some of the most recent information:ġ 12:50:51 Starting BOINC client version 6.6.28 for windows_intelx86ġ 12:50:51 log flags: task, file_xfer, sched_opsġ 12:50:51 Libraries: libcurl/7.19.4 OpenSSL/0.9.8j zlib/1.2.3ġ 12:50:51 Data directory: D:\Programme\Boinc\Dataġ 12:50:51 Running under account Pelleġ 12:50:51 Processor: 2 GenuineIntel Intel(R) Core(TM) Duo CPU T2450 2.00GHz ġ 12:50:51 Processor features: fpu tsc pae nx sse sse2 pni mmxġ 12:50:51 OS: Microsoft Windows Vista: Home Premium x86 Edition, Service Pack 1, (.00)ġ 12:50:51 Memory: 2.00 GB physical, 4.25 GB virtual Please let me know what information I need to provide and what can be done to get Boinc to run as a service again. There are no errors (that I have found) anywhere. I always keep my Boinc installation current (that is 6.6.28 at the moment). I can't see why computation starts when the manager is started manually. Boinc should be running as a service and thus execute even before login. Before the manager starts, execution of Boinc-projects is not running. It's only then, when the manager starts, that the CPU-load is going up. When logging in, the Boinc-Manager will be blocked from execution and needs to be started manually. Unfortunately, Boinc doesn't start automatically any longer (service?). On my Notebook it's the first time I use Windows Vista (Home Premium). I've been running Boinc for some years now and rarely had any problems (which probably is the reason that I don't know too much about how this thing really works).
